Olafur Eliasson's 'Room for one colour'

You walk into the space and all of a sudden everything appears in black and white. Your eyes can no longer process color due to the sodium lights. It feels like being inside a 1950s tv set. It’s not the same watching it on video, but luckily he included a “snippet” of this at his 2008 MOMA exhibition “Take Your Time”. It was near one of the escalators and although I only experienced it for less than 2 minutes it was incredibly transformative. This installation has stayed with me so deeply. I think of it more often than one would expect.
