An involuntary state of intense, obsessive infatuation and longing for emotional reciprocation from a "limerent object" (LO), often characterized by intrusive thoughts, idealized thinking, and emotional dependence. Coined by Dorothy Tennov, it differs from love by being more obsessive, often one-sided, and focused on uncertainty. Symptoms include intense cravings, anxiety, and mood swings based on the LO's actions.
